Fixing Church starts at the beginning -- What did Jesus really say about Church? Why is his first message to a congregation all about blessing? How does my church bless me? Do I bless others when I spend my time in church? And most importantly, How can my congregation become Church with a capital C?
Fixing Church's seven short chapters are geared towards getting people talking. Each session (designed for a one hour small group or class) has both questions and challenging discussion starters. Further resources and web links are also included. Pastors will find a sermon starter kit on Bill Kemp's website for help in tying the content into a seven week series. Topics covered are:
Fixing Church 7.0 is an appropriate study for Lent. It provides insight into why Jesus was so passionate about his Church that he died for her. It can also be used for leadership training and goal setting retreats. Like Bill Kemp's other books, it helps laity and clergy get back on the same page and is required reading for anyone concerned about the current direction their church is headed in. Knowing the basics helps us change what needs changed and honor what remains for eternity.
Written with the minimum of jargon, Fixing Church 7.0 is appropriate for any denomination or size of congregation. It focuses on the core basics that every Church has in common. The tone of the book is hopeful and non-anxious. It always assumes that Jesus loves your church, and you do too on most days.

Bill is an ordained clergy person in the Western Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church, and an unofficial instigator for change. After serving a variety of local churches for 31 years, he switched into full time writing in 2010. He divides his time between nonfiction (books for churches and individuals going through transition) and fiction. His second novel, Mary Sees All - the Race to Save Jesus from the Cross, will be released May 5, 2018. He is the author of nine other books, mostly dealing with improving church life. Bill also does workshops and consulting. His favorite speaking topics, and other books, can be found at www.notperfectyet.com. Bill also maintains a blog at www.billkemp.info Here he posts each Tuesday about the upcoming scriptures (see Lectionary ), as well as, addresses topics related to church management, social justice, and personal transition. The book business has changed drastically since 2004 when Bill Kemp was first published by the traditional press Discipleship Resources (The Church Transition Workbook). While denominational houses still provide needed resources for local churches, Bill launched Not Perfect Yet Publishing with an eye to providing a more “unvarnished” guide to church life, personal spirituality, and the stories of the Bible. He appreciates your feed back about this effort. Write him at contact@billkemp.info
