Inhaltsangabe

The Wentworth Papers, 1705-1739 offers a detailed glimpse into the life and times of Thomas Wentworth, Lord Raby and later Earl of Strafford. This meticulously curated collection, selected from his private and family correspondence, provides invaluable insights into the political and social landscape of early 18th-century Britain.

Edited with a memoir and extensive notes by James Joel Cartwright, the papers shed light on Wentworth's diplomatic missions, his relationships with key figures of the era, and the day-to-day realities of aristocratic life. Readers will discover firsthand accounts of significant historical events and gain a deeper understanding of the complexities of the period. "The Wentworth Papers" remains an essential resource for historians and anyone interested in British history and the art of letter writing.
