In this pathbreaking history of British imperialism in Myanmar from the early nineteenth century to 1942, Jonathan Saha argues that animals were impacted and transformed by colonial subjugation. Jonathan Saha is Associate Professor of History at the University of Durham. A specialist in the history of British colonial rule in Myanmar, he has published widely on the topics of law, criminality, state formation, gender, medicine, and animals. He is the author of Law, Disorder and the Colonial State (2013).
