Inhaltsangabe

Education: Its Data and First Principles is a book written by Thomas Percy Nunn in 1920. The book is an exploration of the fundamental principles of education and the data that supports these principles. Nunn argues that education should be based on scientific principles and that educators must understand the psychological and physiological processes involved in learning. The book is divided into two parts. The first part examines the data that supports the principles of education, including the role of the senses, memory, and attention in learning. Nunn also discusses the importance of motivation and the impact of emotions on learning. The second part of the book focuses on the first principles of education, including the importance of individual differences and the need for a broad and comprehensive curriculum. Nunn argues that education should not only focus on the acquisition of knowledge but also on the development of character and the cultivation of moral values. Overall, Education: Its Data and First Principles is a comprehensive and insightful exploration of the principles of education. Nunn's emphasis on the importance of scientific principles and individual differences continues to be relevant today, making this book a valuable resource for educators and anyone interested in the field of education. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Reseña del editor

The Modem Educator s Library has been designed to give considered expositions of the best theory and practice in English education of to-day. It is planned to cover the principal problems of educational theory in general, of curriculum and organization, of some unexhausted aspects of the history of education, and of special branches of applied education. The Editor and his colleagues have had in view the needs of young teachers and of those training to be teachers, but since the school and the schoolmaster are not the sole factors in the educative process, it is hoped that educators in general (and which of us is not in some sense or other an educator ?) as well as the professional schoolmaster may find in the series some help in understanding precept and practice in education of to-day and to-morrow. For we have borne in mind not only what is but what ought to be. To exhibit the educators work as a vocation requiring the best possible preparation is the spirit in which these volumes have been written. No artificial uniformity has been sought or imposed, and while the Editor is responsible for the series in general, the responsibility for the opinions expressed in each volume rests solely with its author.
