To provide for the increased trade which it is expected will result from the good shelter afforded by the breakwater, various other works are in progress or contemplated. A concrete sea wall has been built in front of the shore, between the breakwater and the west jetty, reclaiming 7 acres of land: the west jetty has been rebuilt, and the line of the east jetty has been altered, widening the entrance from 150 to 200 feet; and the channel is to be dredged to a depth of 12 feet at low water. Fraserburgh Harbour. Description. The harbour of Fraserburgh is situated at the western side of an extensive bay, open to the north, on the north-eastern coast of Scotland. The small fishing harbour, established in a small inlet, has been enlarged, and sheltered recently by a small breakwater, serving as a protection from the north and north-east. (Plate 4, Fig. 14.) The breakwater, about 850 feet long, extends from low water into a depth of 3 fathoms, and both shelters a sort of outer harbour, and protects the entrances to the two inner harbours. It has been constructed of concrete, on the upright-wall system; the same principle of concrete bags, and the same plant, having been employed as at the northern breakwater at Aberdeen.
