Inhaltsangabe

Talent development has become an important issue in contemporary sport. This innovative and original study offers a philosophical alternative to conventional approaches to talent development, filling a gap between realist, idealist and social interpretations. In the process, it explores new ways of encouraging sporting talent to develop independently of outside influence. Deepening our understanding of performance and development in sport, and the process of learning to be an elite player, this book is important reading for any serious student or researcher working in the philosophy of sport, sports coaching, sports development, sport psychology or applied sport science.
