Solar Energy: Its Source And Mode Throughout The Universe, written by I. W. Heysinger, is a comprehensive book that delves into the fundamental concepts of solar energy and its various modes of operation throughout the universe. The book covers a wide range of topics, including the origin and evolution of the sun, the nature of solar radiation, the principles of solar energy conversion, and the various applications of solar energy. The book begins with an overview of the sun, its structure, and its role in the solar system. It then discusses the nature of solar radiation, including its spectrum, intensity, and variability. The book also covers the fundamental principles of solar energy conversion, including the photovoltaic effect, solar thermal energy conversion, and solar hydrogen production. In addition to covering the basic principles of solar energy, the book also explores the various applications of solar energy, including solar power generation, solar heating and cooling, and solar water desalination. The book also discusses the challenges and opportunities associated with the widespread adoption of solar energy, including the need for improved energy storage and the development of new materials and technologies.Overall, Solar Energy: Its Source And Mode Throughout The Universe is an essential resource for anyone interested in understanding the fundamental principles of solar energy and its various applications in the modern world. Spiral nebula. No. 4964. Herschel. PREFACE TO THE SECOND EDITION. Since this book was first published, in 1895, a marvellous change has taken place in the attitude of science towards the questions which it presents, and the movement in the direction of substantial acceptance by those most qualified to judge, of the conclusions herein reached, is going on with a constantly accelerated rapidity. Having presented a comprehensive generalization capable of fully explaining, even with our present knowledge, the various cosmical and astronomical phenomena, and of harmonizing their processes of genesis and maintenance, this growing acceptance is not surprising, for prior to this the various hypotheses in vogue were but partial in scope, and set up only to cover certain more obvious and closely related species or varieties, or even individual phenomena, so that one hypothesis was in contradiction to another ;whole categories were left entirely out of account, and there was no possibility of reaching, for the whole, more than a mere surface or classificational system of cosmical physics.
