The A'napast,., „-, f 1 f ce'cinl. I sang, 5. The Tribrach,) tll&Me feet... I33 jn'dicen, a harper. Besides the dnaptest and the tribrach, there are five dther trisyllable feet; namely, the amphimacer or cretic """, the molossus J, the dmphibrach """, the bucchius """, and the antibacchtus " " J. The feet of four syllables are very numerous:--but we shall contdnt ourselves here with the fdllowing four: 1. The Chori&mbut, " r pratS'rea, moreover, 2. The Proceleusmdtic,--»-I jluaJ cSlij'rlter, swiftly, 3. The Ionic a riajS'ri, conten'dlte, strive ye. 4. The Ionic d mino'ri, J m8dita'ri, to meditate. s In addition to these five Figures of Prdsody, suffice it, in this place, to give three more,--namely, Systole, Didstole, and Synapheia. In the Appendix to this Work most of the Figures belonging to Prdsody, in cdmmon with Etymdlogy and Syntax, will be (briefly) enumerated--tinder those respective heads. By Systole a long syllable is shdrtened: by Diastole, called also Ec'lasis, a short syllabl...
