Dr. Melissa K. Hollis, PhD, MSN, RN-BC, CMSRN, CNEn, is a registered nurse (RN) with a PhD that studied nursing student wellness and resilience levels in accelerated and traditional pro¬grams. She teaches full-time undergraduate nursing students and works PRN at her local emer¬gency department as a bedside nurse. She is a member of local ENA chapter and serves Texas Nurses Association through her committee work. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling the world with her family.
James E. Whaley, RPh, MS, is currently an associate professor of health sciences and
chemistry at Baker College of Owosso (Michigan) and coordinator of the Pharmacy Technician
Program, which is offered at nine Baker College campuses. He routinely teaches courses
in the Pharmacy Technician Program in addition to anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology,
and general chemistry. Mr. Whaley has taught at Baker College of Owosso since 1995
and was the first recipient of the college’s prestigious Teacher of the Year award. He has been
selected as a member of Who’s Who among College Teachers numerous times. Prior to coming
to Baker, Mr. Whaley was twice ranked in the top 10 percent of instructors at the University
of Illinois, where he was awarded a fellowship in cellular and molecular biology from the
National Institutes of Health. Mr. Whaley worked as a retail pharmacist before beginning his
career as an educator, and he has been a registered pharmacist since 1981.
Kathryn A. Booth, RN-BSN, RMA (AMT), RPT, CPhT, MS is a registered nurse (RN) with a master’s degree in education as well as certifications in phlebotomy, pharmacy tech, and medical assisting. She is an author, an educator, and a consultant for Total Care Programming, Inc. She has over 30 years of teaching, nursing, and healthcare experience that spans five states. As an educator, Kathy has been awarded the teacher of the year in three states where she taught various health sciences, including medical assisting in both a classroom and an online capacity. Kathy serves on the AMT Examinations, Qualifications, and Standards committee, as well as the advisory board for two educational institutions. She stays current through working at various practice settings as well as obtaining and maintaining certifications. Her larger goal is to develop up-to-date, dynamic healthcare educational materials to assist her and other educators and to promote healthcare professions. In addition, Kathy enjoys presenting innovative new learning solutions for the changing healthcare and educational landscape to her fellow professionals nationwide.
