Many years ago, as a result of some traumatic experiences, the author became agoraphobic. With some strong will power, and her work in the medical and service professions behind her, she recorded all her experiences in agoraphobic situations, and researched with clinicians, and at medical libraries. This book is the result of this period of study, experience, and the programme of recovery that she devised for herself and found so successful. She is also a qualified teacher, a trained counsellor for the Citizens Advice Bureau, and spent several years as an Area Director for the British Red Cross Society. Her more recent work has been in management of postgraduate medical education; hospital management in university based research into health promotion and illness prevention; and in general practice. She gained a double distinction in diplomas in general management and in practice management.
