Inhaltsangabe

This guide, which by this its seventh edition has already been hailed as one of the most thorough and up to date guides to inland waterways cruising in the Netherlands, provides detailed information on over 50 cruising routes in the country's 12 different provinces. Aimed at motor yachts cruising the 3,500kms of Dutch waterways that offer at least 4.0 metres air draft, the guide includes step-by-step navigation details for each route; bridge and lock opening procedures and times; descriptions of moorings and facilities; useful sources of information on every aspect of Netherlands cruising; a glossary of important Dutch terms, and tips offering unique insights into particular locations. It is the first book to provide this level of detail and to be written to supplement the national Nautical Maps (Waterkaarten) app and charts. It even corrects numerous errors to be found in this and other apps and published guides. This latest edition also includes full colour maps of every route. The guide is written by Andy Mulholland and Machiel Lambooij, members of the Cruising Association's European Inland Waterways Section (EIWS), who have cruised virtually every waterway in the Netherlands over the past decade, and edited by fellow EIWS member Gordon Knight. It is updated annually via reports from CA members actively cruising the inland waterways (several hundred of which are submitted each year) and includes a 15 per cent discount offer on first year's CA membership to purchasers applying online during the year. Members can download the free digital edition of this guide (and of 24 further inland waterways guides) as well as the Cruising Association's proprietary CAptain's Mate app, which enables them to access the most up-to-date information on routes and mooring locations.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Andy Mulholland, together with his wife Gwen, has cruised more than 12,000 kms in the Netherlands and has personally covered every area and route in this book other than a small section of Route GD3 in the Groningen region. He has gained a deep appreciation for the Dutch, their country and their culture. With more than 20,000kms covered since retiring, European cruising experience has also included forays into France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany, including cruising on the Rhine. Machiel Lambooij is a Dutch resident. After his retirement he has begun exploring, together with his partner, in their motorboat, initially most of the inland waterways of the Netherlands and then those of Germany, Belgium, France and even the Broads. He has also explored the coasts of the Netherlands, England, France, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. In between trips abroad, they fill their boating time with trips to their favorite Dutch destinations, including the Dutch Waddeneilanden (Frisian islands). Gordon Knight spent 40 years cruising under sail, mostly in Northern European and Mediterranean waters. During that time, as an admin on the World Cruising Wiki, he largely created several Mediterranean sections. He now spends part of the year cruising the inland waterways of the Netherlands with his wife Soophy. Like the authors a long-standing member of the CA's European Inland Waterways Section (EIWS), he writes or edits all the Section's 25 publications.
