You have some new cases in this treatise abso lutely necessary to understand, in order to play the game to perfection. It frequently happens, that each player has two or three pawns, without a piece on the board at the latter end of a game: in this case, you have instructions how to reckon the moves, in the shortest manner, who has gained tb move, let the moves be ever so many in number. We rules laid down for counting them are as easy, as reckon ing any number with counters, which has never been attempted by any author before.
