IN publishing this poem, the translator thinks it desirable to point out that his chief endeavour has been to adhere as closely as possible to the original, Which is confessedly of surpassing beauty. Some of these are peculiar and this circumstance considerably increases the difficulty of giving a faithful and yet harmonious version.
