Excerpt from A System of Inorganic Chemistry
The physical aspects of chemistry have generally been kept in the background, and introduced only when necessary to explain modern theories. I hold that a student should have a fair knowledge of a wide range of facts before he proceeds to the study of physical chemistry, which, indeed, is a science in itself. But short tables of the more important physical properties of elements, and of the simpler com pounds, have been introduced for purposes of reference.
