Excerpt from Engineering Inspection
Much descriptive matter has already been written On the details of the various inspection methods employed in different engineering works, but the object of this work is to present to the reader, in a compact and convenient form, a description of the various principles involved in the inspection of an engineering job from the raw material to the finished article. It is obviously impossible to go fully into detail in each case, nor is it necessary to do so. Every engineer and manager has different problems to face, but if he has a thorough grasp of the principles required for their solution, it is not usually difficult to work out the necessary details. The examples given are chosen to be representative (as far as possible) of general engineering practice and to illustrate the different principles of inspection and measurement in common use. From considerations of space, mechanical engineering Operations only are described, as the special apparatus and 'methods used in electrical and civil.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This detailed guide to engineering inspection practices describes the detailed processes engineers use to ensure the quality and safety of engineering work. It provides valuable information on the various tests, measurements, and gauges used to inspect raw materials, semi-finished and finished products, and discusses the principles behind each technique. It explores the use of tools such as tensile testing machines, Brinell hardness testers, and scleroscopes, and explains their importance in assessing material properties like strength, hardness, and impact resistance. The book also delves into the role of specifications in defining the required quality of materials and products and emphasizes the importance of proper material selection and careful inspection throughout the manufacturing process to prevent potential failures or accidents.
