Excerpt from Questions on Lockyer's Elementary Lessons in Astronomy: For the Use of Schools
The following questions on Mr. Lockyer's "Lessons in Astronomy" have been framed with the object of bringing that work within the ready grasp both of teacher and pupil.
Seeing how eagerly this Manual has been welcomed by other nations, and fully satisfied myself of its value and completeness, I feel it would be matter worthy of public censure were not every facility afforded the English student for its intelligent and thorough comprehension.
The questions, in most instances, are intended to be direct and exhaustive; where they are not so, it is with the view of giving necessary latitude to the teacher.
To Mr. Lockyer, without whose encouragement I should scarcely have ventured upon these questions, I am indebted for several suggestions.
