Excerpt from The Science of Politics, Vol. 45
That there is an ideal polity for each State, if not one for all States, I steadfastly believe. But it is only to be discovered in the paths of history and observa tion.
In passing from the 'science of Law' to that Of Politics, some change of method is inevitable, owing to the superior complexity and larger range of the subject matter. But the exercise, once become familiar in the narrower field, of applying a severe terminology and logical process to ethical notions will be found of the highest service in the wider field.
A two years' journey round the world, in the course of which I visited the chief centres of political life ancient and modern, in Europe, America, Australasia, Polynesia, and North Africa, has not only helped me with illustrations, but has been of. No small use in stimulating thought.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. A pioneering work of social and political theory, this book codifies and categorizes the emerging field of politics as a science. Originally published in 1883, this book laid the foundation for the study of political theory and shaped the way we think about government. The author, Sheldon Amos, was a renowned jurist, barrister, and professor of jurisprudence at the esteemed University College London. This book was the culmination of his years of scholarly research, offering a comprehensive examination of political terms, theories, and their applications in the real world. The author emphasizes the value of historical and comparative analysis in understanding political phenomena. Although the field of politics had yet to reach its full potential as a science, the author recognized the importance of rigorous methods and logical reasoning in its study. Amos argued that the complexities of human nature and social dynamics made it difficult to establish universal political laws, but he maintained that politics could still be approached scientifically by examining its constituent parts. This pioneering work laid the groundwork for future political scientists and remains a valuable reference point for anyone interested in the evolution of political thought.
