Inhaltsangabe

This book introduces learners to analytic geometry, a field of mathematics that uses algebra to describe geometric shapes. Through accessible examples and applications to familiar theorems of geometry, the author takes readers from the basics to more advanced concepts. Along the way, learners will encounter topics such as the point, the locus of an equation, the straight line, transformations of coordinates, the circle, loci, and the conic sections. This book is suitable for both high school and freshman college students and provides a solid foundation for further study in analytic geometry and related fields.

Reseña del editor

Excerpt from The Elements of Plane Analytic Geometry: A Text-Ncluding Numerous Examples and Applications, and Especially Designed

The changes in the present edition consist mainly in the addition of a moderate amount of new matter. Almost all of this will be found after page 107, and in particular the last half of Chapter VIII and the whole of Chapter IX are new. It is hoped that in its present form the book will be found to cover the ground of the ordinary first course in analytic geometry as given in American colleges and technical schools, and that it will prove serviceable as a text-book in such courses.
