The aim of the new series is to bring into the fore ground the great main lines of Greek accidence and syntax, in short to teach the regular and ordinary modes of expres sion in use at the time when the most precise of languages had reached its highest precision. Accordingly it was necos sary carefully to revise the Grammar if it was to take its proper place in the series.
I have to acknowledge a great deal of very generous and valued help, not only from my colleagues and friends, but also from many others who in using the book had detected errors or observed ways of improving it. More especially I have to thank my colleague Mr. Heard for many suggestions and much assistance.
