Excerpt from The Geology of the Country Near Newquay
The district described in this Memoir is comprised in Sheet 346 of the Geological Survey Map. It lies in Cornwall, and takes in an area of about 105 square miles, including the north coast from Watergate Bay to St. Agnes Head. The only town of any size is Newquay; but there are various ancient villages, including St. Agnes (loca 1 called St. Anns), Perranporth, St. Mawgan, St. Columb Minor, Newlyn East, and Crantock. The market town of St. Columb Major lies just outside our eastern limits; Truro is a few miles to the south.
