Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the economic and political arguments for and against free trade and state interventionism. Written in 1903, the author argues that free trade, once a revolutionary concept, has outlived its usefulness and is no longer appropriate for the economic conditions of the early 20th century. In particular, the author believes that free trade has failed to stimulate domestic manufacturing in the United Kingdom and has, in some sectors, led to a decline in British manufacturing output. The author's analysis and insights remain relevant more than a century later, as the world grapples with questions of globalization and the role of government in the economy.
