Inhaltsangabe

Delving into a singular, corrected second folio of Shakespeare's collected plays from 1632, this book uncovers a trove of invaluable emendations and annotations made in a hand not much later than the original printing. The author presents a selection of these changes, arguing for their authenticity and exploring their implications for our understanding of Shakespeare's work. By examining the corrections in the context of the plays' composition, performance, and publication history, this book elucidates the complex processes involved in transmitting Shakespeare's texts from manuscript to print. It reveals the dynamic interplay between author, scribe, actor, and printer, shedding light on the challenges and opportunities of preserving and interpreting the works of one of the greatest writers in the English language.
