Excerpt from Industry and Finance: Supplementary Volume Being the Results of Inquiries Arrange by the Section of Economic Science and Statistics of the British Association, During the Years 1918 and 1919
To Mr. A. H. Gibson, of Harrogate, I am indebted for the Notes on Currency and Banking. It seemed well to continue the chronological account of developments, and Mr. Gibson, when appealed to, very kindly undertook the work.
What is now published is but a fragment, and does not pretend to be anything more. It is the intention of the Economics Section of the British Association to publish the results of the investiga tions carried out during the war period, in a convenient form at as early a date as possible.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book seeks to trace the movement of women into the workforce to replace men during The Great War. This shift in industrial practice marked the beginning of the growing presence of women across multiple industries previously inaccessible to them. The author reviews the initial difficulties for women as they integrated into roles historically occupied by men, before discussing their eventual success in occupying these roles. Also examined are the health and welfare measures brought about by the influx of women into the workplace, the emergence of women into trade unions, and new attention to the impacts long working hours have on production. This book provides an insight into women's evolution into roles outside the domestic sphere and their significant labour contributions during the Great War.
