Excerpt from The Talmud: Its Relation to Judaism and the Attitude of the Jews Towards Society
From this slight sketch it will easily be seen that the Talmud is no mere supplement to Judaism which might be rejected without thereby affecting the character of Judaism, but is rather the one source from which Judaism has flowed, the basis upon which Judaism is built - the very soul which informs and sustains Judaism. In fact Judaism, as embodied in the historic phenomenon of the Jewish race, and as manifested in its mental and moral capacities and virtues. Which not even the enemies of Judaism can deny, Judaism is wholly and solely an outcome of Talmudic teaching and of the system of education and culture followed and fostered by it.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the heart of Judaism, exploring the profound influence of the Talmud on Jewish life and values. The author contends that the Talmud, far from being a mere supplement, is the very foundation upon which Judaism is built. It has shaped the spiritual, moral, and social development of the Jewish people for centuries, guiding their actions and fostering a distinct set of characteristics. The book challenges misconceptions surrounding the Talmud, particularly those that paint it as encouraging dishonesty or aversion to work. On the contrary, the author demonstrates through numerous examples how the Talmud promotes ethical conduct, emphasizes the value of honest labor ââ â including agriculture and handicrafts ââ â and advocates for a life of self-sufficiency. The text also explores the Talmud's teachings on civic duty, revealing a strong emphasis on respecting government, upholding the law, and contributing to the well-being of society. The author argues that the Talmud's principles extend beyond the Jewish community, advocating for kindness, compassion, and just treatment of all individuals, regardless of their faith or background. Through its exploration of the Talmud's teachings, the book provides valuable insights into the core values and historical experiences of the Jewish people. It sheds light on the enduring legacy of this ancient text and its profound impact on shaping a resilient and ethical way of life.
