Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the history of cheap-money experiments conducted for centuries. From the English Land Bank in the 17th century to the Rhode Island Paper Bank and the Mississippi scheme in the 18th century, the author meticulously examines these attempts at creating more plentiful and accessible currency. Through these historical accounts, the author highlights the recurring fallacies and harmful consequences of such schemes. The book emphasizes that, despite recurring eras of economic hardship and dissatisfaction, measures that artificially manipulate currency values inevitably lead to instability, erode trust in the monetary system, and ultimately harm the very people they were intended to benefit. By presenting a comprehensive analysis of these past experiments, this book serves as a valuable cautionary tale against the allure of cheap-money panaceas and reinforces the importance of sound monetary principles.
