Excerpt from Prayers for Morning and Evening: To Which Are Added General Prayers for Either Occasion
O lord our God, who hast given us un derstandings to know and hearts to love thee, fulfil now thy gracious promise to draw nigh unto all them who draw nigh unto thee. The heavens are thine; the earth also is thine. We ourselves are thy children, and all our means of happiness are the gifts of thy paternal goodness. Thou carest for all, and thou blessest all. To thee, therefore, may, we at all times look up for grace to help and mercy to forgive. Know ing how feeble and frail we are, we need light and strength from on high to guard and defend us. 0, give us, we beseech thee.
