Excerpt from Common Sense in Labor Management
IN this book I have tried to bring into clear definition the more important relations between employers and employees, With an appraisement of methods proved successful in harmonizing them. My function has been that of a reporter, in large part, for the ideals and policies expressed herein are not impractical ideals or policies of mere theory. I have gone to experienced managers for them. My task has been one of selection and formulation. Hence, my debts to broad-thinking business men from coast to coast are so numerous that I should be unfair to all if I singled out any for special mention. I must not fail, however, to record my deep satisfaction and gratefulness for the opportunities afl'orded through my association With the A. W. Shaw Company, for the preparation of this book.
