Excerpt from Railway Nationalisation and the Farmer
Surely this idea is not what the News editor says it is! Surely it is only fair to assume that there is something wrong with the cause when an able writer is driven to this means of supporting it. In further criticism of the two books, and in the same editorial, the editor says.

Excerpt from Railway Nationalisation and the Farmer
"Railway Nationalisation and the Farmer" is the natural outcome of criticism levelled against "Railway Nationalisation and the Average Citizen." I had written that book before the Smith Report and the Dray ton-Ac worth Report on the railway situation in Canada were published; but refrained from giving it to the public until I had an opportunity of reading those reports. Having done so, I decided to let the book stand as it was, and to issue a new treatise, mainly in criticism of the work of Sir Henry Drayton and Mr. Acworth, which I called "The Irresponsible Five" - "A New Family Compact." The two books, appearing about the same time as the publication of the reports of the Canadian Commission, drew upon themselves the criticism of the nationalisers. But I am pleased to say that this criticism has left the statements of the books intact.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book examines the potential drawbacks of transferring Canadian railway systems to government control. The author draws on testimonies and reports gathered by the Dominions Royal Commission, comparing the performance of nationalized railways in Canada and Australia. The author argues that government ownership of railways can lead to delays in shipment, insufficient storage and rolling stock, and neglected infrastructure, all of which harm farmers who rely on efficient railways to transport their goods to market. The book suggests that these issues stem from the lack of private sector incentives that drive companies to provide quality service and innovate. The author concludes that the nationalization of railways would hinder agricultural development and harm the Canadian economy.
