Excerpt from The Silver Question: Injury to British Trade and Manufactures
Fifteen years ago I had come to the conclusion that if the value of gold, as measured by silver and commodities, were to continue to rise, the inevitable consequence must be the banishment of all our great manufacturing industries from England, to find a home in the silver-using countries of the East and elsewhere.
This theory I and others proclaimed from the housetops, but we found that we might as well have been crying in the wilderness; no one would listen to us. Yet the theory is very simple, and seemed to us quite conclusive.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the detrimental impact on British industry caused by the inflated value of gold relative to silver since 1873. The author argues that this shift has shifted the balance of manufacturing power towards silver-standard countries, particularly in Asia. The book provides a detailed analysis of how this currency change has influenced global trade dynamics, leading to the decline of British exports and the rise of Eastern manufacturing hubs like Japan. The author emphasizes the urgent need to address this issue to protect British economic interests and maintain its industrial dominance in the face of increasing international competition.
