The third and last relation in a family, is that of master and ser vants the other two relations had a being in man's estate of innocency, this was brought in by man's apostasy.1 Civil subjection to man came in by our sinful defection from God. We lost our liberty by casting off God's service.2 The word servant is thought to be a derived d servando, because those who were taken in battle, and might have been slain, were saved, 2 Kings v. 2. AS servi tude came in with a curse, (the first time the word servant sounded in the world, was when Noah cursed his son Ham, Gen. Ix. So sovereignty is promised as a blessing, Gen. Xxvii. 29, and xxv. 23.
