Excerpt from My First Vacation and Welcome Home: With a Brief Biographical Sketch
Fter an extended trip abroad covering a period of four months, a dinner was tendered to Mr. John polhemus, on his return, by his friends and associates in the Typothetae, the master-printers' Society. The invitation was given on their behalf by R. Harmer Smith, Esq., Chairman, and Henry Bessey, Esq., James W. Pratt, Esq., James A. Rogers, Esq., and J. Faulkner, Esq., members of the Executive Committee. Mr. E. Parke Coby, the Secretary of the Society, completed the arrange ments for the occasion, which was fixed at Hotel Martin, University Place, on Tuesday evening, September 22, 1891.
