Excerpt from Woman's Rights Under the Law: In Three Lectures, Delivered in Boston, January, 1861
There seems, at first Sight, a certain presumption in offering to an American public, at this moment, any book Which does not treat of the great interests which convulse and perplex the United States. But experience has shown, that neither the individual nor the national mind can remain continually upon the rack; and both author and publisher have thought that a book upon a serious subject, popu lar in form and low in price, would find, perhaps, a more hearty welcome, under present circum stances, than in those prosperous days, when manees and poems, travels and biographies, are scattered over every table by the score.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a bold and comprehensive examination of the historical and legal evolution of womenâs rights. The author takes a critical eye to traditional laws and customs, arguing that they are rooted in an antiquated and narrow view of womenâs capabilities and roles. Drawing on a wide range of sources, including legal documents, literature, and social commentary, the author traces the development of laws concerning marriage, divorce, property ownership, and political participation. They reveal how these laws have systematically oppressed women and perpetuated gender inequality. The book ultimately challenges readers to rethink the fundamental principles of law and justice as they pertain to women, offering a vision of a more equitable and just society.
