S,in the following volume were buted, during the last twenty College Magazine, The Caian. Elivered as addresses or speeches Chapel and Hall. As was natural under the circumstances, the in ls and the personalities described were mostly those of members oundation. From this point of that these studies will serve to hers to enquire into the past rhatever corporation they may id, in particular, to trace in the 5 events so displayed the main 1e stream of national history. H many of the illustrations here e drawn from a somewhat narrow are of early college life which I ired to portray is, I hope, a fairly ruthful one. It should be clearly hat the social distinctions and which to some extent prevail at atween one College and another, significance in early days. There e, as I believe there was hardlythough temporary, influence sometimes to be traced in. The personality of a dominant Master or Tutor. A good example of this is to be found in the Romanist reaction described in the Elizabethan Episode. On the whole the several Colleges may be considered to have been doing similar work, and doing it with similar efficiency, throughout the period in question.
