For all Swift's letters, except that to Varina, lam indebted to the politenefs of Henry Irvine, Efq; of Dublin, nephew of the gentleman to whom they are ad dffifllii'tl. From Mr lrvine l alfo received the letter of bilhop Rundle, and thofe of Mrs vjbiteway. As this lady's letters relate chiefly to the Dean, and are writ ten in a manner that plainly proves the was worthy of her celebrated kinfmau, I {hall make no apology for inferring them in this volume. For Swift's letter to Varina, I am indebted to Doétor Saun ders of Dublin, who confiderably euban ccd the value of his prefent by the po lite manner in which he bellowed it.
