The author uses the concept of watching, sleeping, and waking to explore the importance of being awake to the presence of Christ and guarding our souls against sin. The author also meditates on familiar themes including Jesus's portrayal as a father, mother, and child; the essential nature of water, wine, and oil in the Sacraments; and the dangers posed by various vices with language that is accessible and direct.
