The object was to give in a condensed form the series of selected methods in metallurgical analysis which made up the course of study.
To the descriptions of the processes, such explanations have been added as experience has shown to be desirable for the assistance of the student in understanding the conditions nece'ssary for accurate results.
Such methods only are given as have been tested by repeated use in the laboratory and found satisfactory.
No attempt is made to describe general reagents or ap paratus, as students prepared to take this course are always familiar with all ordinary laboratory equipment and for special forms of apparatus reference is made to easily access ible books and papers.
