Excerpt from Georgian Poetry, 1913-1915
A few of the contributors to the former volume are not represented in this one, either because they have published nothing which comes within its scope, or because they belong in fact to an earlier poetic genera tion, and their inclusion must be allowed to have been an anachronism. Two names are added.
The alphabetical arrangement of the writers has been modified in order to recognize the honour which Mr Gordon Bottomley has done to the book by allowing his play to be first published here.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book presents an in-depth exploration of the works of early 20th century, pre-World War I poets from England. It focuses on a group now synonymous with that period - Rupert Brooke, Wilfred Owen, and Siegfried Sassoon - widely considered the finest war poets to have emerged from the conflict. The author analyses their poetry to shed light on their experiences as both soldiers and artists during an unprecedented and catastrophic event. Leading readers through the major themes of their work - patriotism, loss, and the profound psychological impact of war - the book offers a fresh perspective on the poets' motivations and influences, as well as the development of their craft. The author reveals the personal and often contradictory emotions expressed in their writing, such as Brooke's initial enthusiasm for war contrasting with his later disillusionment, and Sassoon's anger at the needless loss of life. This book provides an illuminating and sensitive examination of these poets and their work, offering readers a deeper understanding of the complex and multifaceted nature of their contribution to English literature. Their writings, born out of the horrors of war, continue to resonate with readers today, offering insights into the human condition and the enduring power of art in the face of adversity.
