Excerpt from England and Rome
To try to reduce me from my allegiance to the Church of my Baptism by abusing it. Shall I say that I perused their miserable letters with contempt and abhorrence? Or was it wonder and pity and sorrow which I rather felt? A strong sense of the foolishness of the writers the miserable weakness of their position - the imbecility of their arguments, - was, I believe, the predominating sentiment with which I flung their communications from me.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book tackles the timeless question of whether seeking spiritual fulfillment within the Roman Catholic Church is the correct path. The author approaches this question with a profound understanding of the history of the Church of England and the theological differences that separate Roman Catholicism and Anglicanism. The work delves into the validity of ordination within the Church of England, its antiquity, and its rejection of certain Roman Catholic doctrines such as transubstantiation, the invocation of saints, purgatory, prayers for the dead, and the adoration of relics. By examining the historical evolution of these beliefs and practices within the broader context of the development of Christian thought, this book challenges the notion that Roman Catholicism alone represents the true path to salvation, providing valuable insights for readers seeking a deeper understanding of the complexities of religious faith and practice.
