John and Aseneth Mitchell, his parents, and Julia A. Mitchell, his sister, comprised the house hold in which he spent his earthly life. He was never married; but was affectionately devoted to his parents and sister, and was allied in faith ful friendship to all, particularly to the suffering poor.
During the last ten years of Cousin Benja's life he was a rare and favorite contributor to various secular journals published in the New England States. His sister, Julia, has gathered together and preserved most of his writings, and since his death has selected from them the fol lowing volume.
