The history of the Church of Christ in Japan since its first founding, now a little more than thirty years ago, is so crowded with material that I cannot attempt to do more than sketch an outline. So true is this, that I was half persuaded to say little or nothing regarding the general environment. But the environment is really a part of the story, the background neces sary to the picture. Therefore, though some of what I shall say this evening may be more or less familiar to you, I will ask you to hear it again.
