Excerpt from Triumphs of the Bible: With the Testimony of Science to Its Truth
The exulting champion of scepticism does not hesitate to claim that the whole mental food of the day - science, history, morals, poetry, fiction, and essay - is prepared by men who have long ceased to believe. It does not appear, however, what it is that has supplied the place of that old belief in which such men as Bacon, Newton, and Locke found rest to their souls. There is doubtless great exaggeration in the above statement, which rather expresses the wish of the writer than the condition of things as it actually exists. Still it also contains much truth. And there is not a little in the signs of the times to occasion serious appre hension to those who stand by the faith once delivered to the saints.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book examines the Bible in the light of historical and scientific knowledge and outlines the challenges it has faced over the centuries. The author believes the Bibleâs survival against all odds and its continued significance offer strong evidence of its validity. While the book addresses the usual challenges to the book such as perceived conflict with the increasingly dominant voice of empirical science during the period the book was written, the author also discusses the survival of the book itself as strong evidence of its divine origin, given the many challenges it has faced throughout its existence. The author also examines the ways in which the Bible has influenced modern society and its continuing relevancy to the present. It is a guided tour of religious thought that sheds light on the religious, philosophical, and social forces that have shaped our world.
