Excerpt from A Calm Inquiry Into the Scripture Doctrine Concerning the Person of Christ: To Which Are Annexed a Brief Review of the Controversy Between Bishop Horsley and Dr. Priestley
Fro those who interest themselves in the sub ject of this Inquiry, the order pursued in the following investigation may appear not alto gether natural; and the Analytic method might perhaps be thought preferable to the Synthetic. Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book provides an extensive review and critique of the different beliefs about Jesus Christ found in the New Testament, and how those beliefs evolved throughout history. The author argues that the idea that Jesus was divine is not found anywhere in the New Testament and, in fact, is incompatible with the idea that he was a real man. The author goes on to examine the different theories about Jesus' nature, including those that say he was a created being, a manifestation of God, or simply a man.
