Many years ago, in the old Castle of Falkenbourg, situated on the mountains, lived a knight named Theobald. He was brave and generous: his powerful aid was extended far and wide in the protection of the oppressed, and his sweetest recompense was the pleasure he derived from making others happy. Othilia, his wife, was the benefactress of the poor.
