Excerpt from The Spectral Bride: And Other Poems
This little collection, like a former one O-na-we-quah and other Poems, has been printed for private circulation, the au thor having no designs whatever upon the Generous Pub lie. Should it meet with the approbation of that limited circle of friends for whom it is intended, we shall be more than repaid for what little trouble it has cost us; should it fail of this, all we can promise, is, to do so no more.
To our brethren of the Press for their uniformly kind no tices of O-na - we-quah, we take this opportunity of return ing sincere thanks, with our acknowledgment of the courte sies thus generously proffered us.
