Excerpt from Controversial Lectures
It need only be added that none of the Lectures had been actually prepared for the press by their author, and that the last two had certainly not been thrown into the form which he would have given them for publication, but it has been the wish of the editor to confine within the narrowest possible limits the discretion he had neces sarily to exercise in arranging them for the printer, and especially to observe a scrupulous fidelity to the original in all matters of conviction or Opinion.

Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book is a series of lectures by English Unitarian minister Wicksteed, delivered primarily to members of his dispersed congregation from 1873-1881. Addressing doctrinal issues prompting debate in the Protestant community, Wicksteed defends a distinctive Unitarian approach to the Christian faith. He posits that Christianity should emphasize the belief in one God, and that the doctrine of the Trinity contradicts this essential principle. Exploring the nature of Jesus Christ in-depth, Wicksteed argues that while Jesus was a divine being, he did not constitute a separate, divine person alongside God and the Holy Spirit. By delving into the New Testament, the author presents Scriptural evidence for his interpretation, offering a thoughtful and nuanced perspective on the nature of God and the place of Jesus Christ within the Christian faith.
