Excerpt from Eighty Years Ago or the Recollections of an Old Army Doctor: His Adventures on the Field of Quatre, Bras and Waterloo and During the Occupation of Paris in 1815
So far back as the year 1600 we were possessors of property at Clongill, in the county of Meath; my great-great-grandfather marrying, in 1690, Margaret Wesley or Wellesley, a sister of Gerard Wesley, after wards Lord Mornington. From these, in direct descent, I am, being the eldest son of Michael Gibney of Dormston Castle, county Meath, who died early in the present century. Let this suffice; and now for something which I hope may prove more interesting to my readers.
