While all inspired truth is necessary and important yet there are certain truths which God emphasizes at certain times. He is ever speaking to the age and generation and He never speaks at random but always to the point and to the times. When the thought of the age was being drawn to the supremacy of one man and taught to recognize the Sovereign Pontiff as the viceroy of heaven and the direct representative of Christ on earth then God raised up John Calvin to emphasize the doctrine of God's sovereignty and to teach the age that He alone had a right to dominate the hearts of men.
