His object has not been to meet all the cavils of controvertists, but, as far as possible, to ascertain the exact tenor of Scripture. He trusts his research has been conducted with impartiality and candour. It has been undertaken Without the most distant feeling of prejudice against the opposers of the doctrine which he has.
