It was originally,broached by the Shaft} hury of the prefent Age, a Man, to be fure, well verfed in the Hiltory and Interef't of Parties, fince, in the Comic of his Life, he has been of all, and, I believe I may fay, at the Head of all the capital Parties in thefe Kingdoms, I mean Whigs, Tories, and 7a cohites, and therefore no Man fitter to form this Projeét of a Coalition, which was, in Ihort, a Projeé'c for the putting himfelf at the Head of them again all at once. I do not fay this out of any Pieque to this refined Statefman, but I fay it out of Regard to Truth, out of Refpeét to my Country, and for the Sake of that Body of Men with whom I always have, and, I believe, always fhall, concur.
