It is not, I conceive, going too far to say, that it is scarcely possible to imagine a more appropriate and'efiicadi'ous mode of preserving the knowledge of God's Word, amongst his people, were it properly attended to. But, in every work inwhich fallen man hath a share, we must expect to hnd a falling short of the end proposed; and the great adversary, who prevailed upon our first Parents to transgress the commandments of God, hath unceasingly pon tinned his endeavours to impede the progress of his,word, in all succeeding times.
